Species List: La Balsa Park, Mooloolah River, Mooloolaba, Sunshine Coast, Qld., 08-06-2015

3 species sighted at La Balsa Park, Mooloolah River, Mooloolaba, Sunshine Coast.

Julie, Terry and David on this 68 minute single shore-entry dive in depths to 6 m. 20 C water temp and almost 1 m viz.

This dive came about as a last minute exercise to give our dry suits a try out for the start of the winter season. There is a one degree difference in what our dive computers recorded for the minimum temperature. Depending on whose is to be believed it was either 19 C or 20 C. Regardless, it was still cold enough to justify the dry suits.

It has been 12 weeks since our last attempted dive here. That dive was after the heavy rains that flushed out the river and nothing was to be seen. Whilst the viz was slightly better this time the marine life is still struggling to return. Only 3 species of sea slug were sighted. Some sponges some hydroids and a little algae were evident and starting to make a gradual return.
